The IBR Measuring Bus [ IMBus ] is a technology step in metrology and interface technology. Powerful connection modules for all sensors and gauges as well as maximum flexibility for connection to computer interfaces characterize the IMBus – Series.

IMBus - Connections for USB, RS232, LAN, WLAN, Profibus

The IBR – Measuring Bus [ IMBus ] is a new series of measuring and interface modules with 
great flexibility and for high demands in industrial environment. The specially developed module case
is very robust and can be mounted without tools. The modules can be placed onto a table or can be 
clicked onto mounting rails. The electronics satisfies all demands from practice regarding flexibility, speed
and resolution at maximum measuring accuracy. The address setting on IMBus occurs automatically 
( Plug & Play ). The modulare structure of 1 to 512 connections and the possibility to connect the modules 
via cables with a maximum length of 1200 m ( 4000 ft ) allow an universal use.
A complete range of software for simple applications up to complex measuring applications with control 
sequences completes the new IMBus series to an universal tool for measuring data collection, analysis 
and displaying.

Measuring modules for connection of inductive probes

The IMB – im modules are available for the connection of
inductive probes from all manufacturers and types.
Standard stock type Tesa HB.
Resolution : 16 Bit ( ± 3mm / 0,1µm, optional ± 1,5mm / 0,05µm )
Measuring rate : 1800 values / sec ( completed values )
Digital technology with linearisation possibility ( IMB -im1 ). Bus 
synchronized for dynamic measurements with probe mixing.

Measuring modules for connection of incremental
measuring systems ( 1Vss, 11µAss )

Connection of all measuring systems with 1Vss – output. 
11µAss signals connectable by adapter F610 010. Reference
impulse and error signal detection. Connector pinout 
according to Heidenhain Standard. Bus synchronized for 
dynamic measurements with probe mixing.
Counter width : 24 Bit / 32 Bit ( secure count method )

Measuring modules for connection of incremental
measuring systems ( TTL )

Connection of all measuring systems with TTL – output. 
Reference impulse and error signal detection. Connector
pinout according to Heidenhain Standard. Bus synchronized
for dynamic measurements with probe mixing.

Measuring module for connection of pneumatic
gauge heads

The digital measuring converter IMB – ae1 allows the 
connection of pneumatic gauge heads of all manufacturers.
A special method for pneumatic adaption leads on different 
air jets and gaps to a minimal linearisation error on high 
precision measurements. 
The air is filtered and regulated by
the IMB – ae – fc1 set.

Measuring modules for analogue voltages and currents

The IMB – ai modules allow the measuring of analogue 
voltages and currents. Standard stock type ± 10V.
Resolution : 16 Bit ( ± 10V / 0,5mV, ± 2V / 100µV )
Measuring rate : 1800 values / sec. ( completed values )
Digital technology with linearisation possibility ( IMB – ai1 ).

Digimatic output

The IMB – mi series allows the usage of the original
connection cables from the gauge manufacturers. 

Universal serial interface module

The IMB – sm interface modules can be loaded with
drivers from the IBR gauge driver library for 
the universal connection of gauges with 
serial interface ( i.e OPTO-RS232, … ).

Universal parallel interface module

The IMB – pm1 interface modules can be loaded with
drivers from the IBR gauge driver library for 
the universal connection of gauges with 
parallel interface ( i.e BCD, binary, … ).
For adapting special parallel interfaces of older
gauge types the connection occurs by 
the adapter cable par/adp.

Switching modules with inputs and outputs

The IMBus input and output modules are all galvanically ( 2kV )
separated. The inputs are compatible to PLC optocoupler inputs
and work in a wide voltage area.
The outputs are ESD proofed, short circuit proofed and contain
a high driver power.
Each input and output contains a status LED.
The connections are done by a plugable terminal strips.

Switching power supply with wide voltage

The switching power supply IMB – ps2 is specially
developed for the IMBus and contains a wide 
voltage input for the usage in every country.
On larger bus expansions power supply modules
can be easily added at any position in IMBus.

Accumulator module for portable units

Available Accumulators : 
1850 mAh, 4000 mAh, 5500 mAh.
The IMB – acc allows the easy and 
fast exchanging of accumulators.

Foot and hand switches, Bus extension cables 

Foot and hand switches with IMBus – adapter case for the
inserting into IMBus. The switches affect only the IMBus –
modules before the switch and interrupt the switch signales to
following modules. This allows the usage of several switches
and the specific triggering of IMBus – groups.
Foot – and hand switches with Sub – D connector can be 
plugged instead of the bus terminator.
The bus extension cables are specially developed for 
high speed communication on IMBus and allow an 
extension of up to 4000ft ( 1200m ) of IMBus.

Industrial monitor for IMBus
Measuring – PC with Windows CE

The industrial monitor IMB – tft is specially developed for the 
rough industrial environment in combination with the IMBus 
series. The monitor contains a power supply which can be 
used at same time for supplying the IMBus. Rail mounts 
at the backside of the monitor are intended for carring the 
IMBus modules. In combination with the measuring PC 
IMB – pc1 and the software ComGage the monitor 
becomes a complete measuring PC.
IMB-tft : 15’’ TFT-Monitor with 1024 x 768.
IMB-pc1 : 3x USB-Ports for keyboard,
mouse, memory stick, printer and 
1x Ethernet connector for connecting
the PC into a computer network.
