Transducers / Gauges

Gauging transducers are versatile instruments, they can be found in many different applications from automotive, aerospace to energy , construction and inspection department. We have worked with our customers to choose the right gauge for the application.

Glasses lens manufacture

One application for half bridge gauging transducers and TCMB module is glasses lens manufacturing. The transducers are installed into the machinery and take measurements of every degree carved out of the lens material. The customer then takes the output from the TCMB which is fed back into the programme. The 3TLX transducers offer the customer excellent performance and reliability of over 10 Mio. cycles.

Aircraft turbine blades

Non contact isn’t always the way forward, our smaller half bridge gauging transducers have been a key piece of equipment for one of our customers. After manufacture, each turbine blade used in aircraft jet engines undergo inspection to check they conform to the specification. Our 3TLX probes offer high accuracy, resolution and repeatability which is required in an application like this.

Paper machines

Paper mills can operate 24/7 so it is essential to use a product which can withstand the demands of constant use. The hard wearing industrial series displacement transducer (IMT IDT) offers adequate protection of up to IP68 and resistance to temperatures of up to 150ºc. The longer measuring stroke on the IDT makes it ideally suited for operation on these paper machines.

Digital gauges vs analogue gauges

Due to the limitations of LVDT and Half Bridge technology these instruments should be used to as close to the middle of measuring stroke as possible. This is because the linearity error is at its smallest at the centre of the measurement range.  This isn’t a problem for many applications however if the whole range of the transducer was required for accurate measurement digital gauges would be the way froward. This is because digital gauges offer the same accuracy across the total stoke of the transducer not just one part unlike its analogue counterparts.
